Lawrence Bender also attempted a career as a dancer, but ultimately he ended up working in the film industry. He began working in the film industry at the bottom of the totem pole, working as a grip on Tales of the Darkside, a popular child-friendly horror series from the 1980s.

Eventually, Bender worked his way up the Hollywood chain, landing a steady career as a film producer. The first major film that Bender worked on was in collaboration with Quentin Tarantino. Reservoir Dogs, that film, was also Tarantino’s directorial debut. The film could be considered a cult classic, kickstarting the unique career of Quentin Tarantino.

Reservoir Dogs was not Lawrence Bender’s first film production, although it was his first blockbuster.

The next film that Tarantino and Bender worked on together was Pulp Fiction, another cult classic in film. This movie, since its debut, has been leaving fans questioning the contents of the briefcase that is heavily featured throughout the film. The briefcase, of course, is nothing more than an ex machina, driving the story forward and creating intrigue for the viewer. Tarantino himself has said that nothing specific was ever in the briefcase.

Film produced by Lawrence Bender, but not involving Tarantino as the director include, Intruder, Good Will Hunting, and An Inconvenient Truth.

Several of Bender’s films, like Good Will Hunting and An Inconvenient Truth, have been nominated for Academy Awards.
