Alexei Beltyukov Continues to Support Education

Born in the Soviet Union, Alexei Beltyukov started out as a country doctor, but took advantage of the opportunity to attend INSEAD at its Fontainebleau France campus. He received his Masters of Business Administration (MBA) there in 1997.

Beltyukov began his business career as an associate with McKinsey & Company. He headed projects in transportation, metals, oil and mining. He was co-author of a plan to reform the Russian railroad. For Brunswick Capital, he served as Vice-President of Business Development. He went on to Renova in Russia and Latvia to manage a large portfolio of assets, including making the changes profitable.

After so much experience at working with distressed companies, Beltyukov founded A-Ventures in 2007. He sold the company in 2014, after returning an average annual profit to investors of 40%. He then founded Endemic Capital, a fund to make investments at an early stage in promising companies, much like what in the United States would be called a venture capital or angel fund.

Endemic is open to investing in countries around the world, but their specialty is new economy technological firms in Russia. They help with the early stages of fundraising, what are called pre-seed, seed and Round A. They aim to invest around $50,000 to $100,000 per company, and take a minority shareholder position. They currently have interests in 9 companies. They don’t manage the company, but do use their knowledge and network of contacts to help. The companies it has invested in include: Chess Boxing Global, Shopster, Eduson, Nuji, Cinbando and Urban Green Energy.

In 2012, About.me told that Beltyukov attended the Executive Program in Disruptive Technologies at Singularity University. Founded by futurist Ray Kurzweil and business leader Peter Diamandis, Singularity University seeks to train leaders and investors to help the world benefit from technological advances.

Beltyukov has also continued his interest in education as Chief Operating Officer of Solvy. Solvy is a new company bringing online an educational system to make math more accessible, benefit both teachers and students. The class teachers tell the software what subjects within the math field the students need practice in, and the site gives them problems and lessons in that as their homework. They get practice with graphs and tables and solving equations. They also get instant scoring, freeing up classroom time for additional learning.

Beltyukov served with Interactive Educational Services as a board member. At the Skolkovo Foundation, he is advisor to the president. He has also been involved with the companies Mechanicus and New Gas Technologies. Alexei’s official website has more.
