Toyota Issues Massive Recall Of Nearly 500,000 Vehicles

If you are driving a Toyota Prius or Lexus, you might want to check to see if your vehicle has been recalled. According to CNBC, the company has announced the recall of Prius vehicles made between the years of 2010 and 2012 as well as Lexus CT 200h models from 2011 and 2012.

It may not sound like a lot of cars at first, but just those models alone account for almost half a million cars on the road. The main issue with them is that they have a small crack around the air bag inflators that can expand over time. This could lead to potential issues with the air bag deploying at all when it is most needed. Obviously, the auto maker cannot take that kind of a risk.

The company is going to notify all of its impacted customers by mail, and it will probably the tools necessary to take care of the issue at no cost to the customer. It is trying to do the best that it can to take care of this issue as quickly as possible. No auto maker wants to be in the news right now for something negative following the wave of bad news about other car companies as of late.

Toyota is trying to make sure that even a seemingly small issue like this is taken care of before anyone has to face the potential of getting themselves or someone else hurt while they are just trying to drive. It is a smart move to get ahead of the story as best as possible.
